What are the mathematical challenges for Year 8?
The Intermediate challenge for students in Years 9, 10 and 11 whilst the junior challenge was for Year 8 students. The Individual Mathematical Challenges consist of a lively, intriguing multiple choice question paper to be completed without a calculator which is designed to stimulate interest in maths in large numbers of pupils.
How long does the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge last?
Students that participate in the intermediate challenges begin by taking the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge: a non-calculator 25-question multiple-choice paper that lasts for 60 minutes. The top 40% scoring participants are rewarded by the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards (in the ratio 3:2:1).
